A Life Savored 
Just to be slightly difficult and slightly more technical, Tiananmen is the gate to the ancient imperial city – now lost to Beijing’s modern growth. The gate to the Forbidden City proper is Wumen which, to get to, requires passing through Tiananmen. 🙂
