Take a Breath of Spring!

Has spring visited you this week? Take time to smell the flowers!

Rice for Dinner! Again. . . ðŸ˜…

It has come to my attention that at the end of quarantine, I will have had rice-based meals for lunch & dinner for 29 days with one notable noodle exception. 😂 🍚 That means 57 meals with rice in a row – I may or may not turn into a rice ball myself by the end 😂 😂

Quarantine Dinner!

Chicken Hearts? 🤔 Haven’t had this dish before 😂 On my third week of mandatory quarantine in China! I’ll be free by April 1!

Remembering Better Times

It’s been a while since we had the opportunity to travel given everything that has been going on – so here is a throw-back to better times and more open borders. This was a young student of China’s Wushu style fighting participating in a festival for the Henan Cultural Tourism festival in 2017. They put on a wonderful performance!

Concrete Giants

‘There is nothing more poetic and terrible than the skyscrapers’ battle with the heavens that cover them’ ~Frederico Lorca

Aren’t they breathtaking? Masterpieces of human ingenuity 🌆

Riding with Zao Jun

Kitchen God (Zao Jun) was on my bus! Hope everyone gets a good report this year

Ice Cream Market

Ice Cream street market! It’s cold enough in Northern China to have you ice cream just laying out 😂❄☃️

Grape Cheesecake

New Taste Testing!

My student brought me some grape cheesecakes 😃🍰🍇🤔

Tried them today and its. . . very grapey? If that makes sense? Tastes like a combination of cheesecake with dimeatapp / grape soda if that makes sense? Not bad really! Very sweet though 😃😃.

Chinese Lantern

May the new year bring you a beautiful, colorful world full of good memories from the past, new adventures in the present, and hope for the future.

Not a Bum

I’m sorry, but it’s a Sunday after 5pm and I just finished a 24 page, 4000+ word paper. I can’t make promises on my level of ‘bumness’. 😂😂But I’m gonna eat the candy anyway!
