#Chinese Snacks

Black Peanuts😣. . . . seems suspicious 😂

Look Familiar?

Not to be confused for ‘#Ritz’ crackers 😜  These are the Fooky Rizl’s. 😂

#Rose Tea – The #Herbs of China

However despite my mistaken belief that they loved #EnglishTea , I have since learned that the actually prefer #herbal teas.  This box for sal at the local supermarket is full of #roses for #rosetea. They also like #lavender tea, #chamomile, #jasmine, and others.  Makes the #cafe very fragrant!

Chinese #IceCream – You can have mine :p

The #Chinese concept of #icecream and my idea of a delicious treat are not the same 😂 This was a Chinese popsicle my student likes – green tea with a red bean filling.  Somehow not quite the same as good old fashioned Chocolate 😜

Home #Cooking

Having a #Birthday Party at #zaxbbq in Zhengzhou!  The ony place in our province that serves a real #American #cheeseburger!  Ordered a side of sweet potato fries and Ginger beer!  Delicious! A Touch of #home for the #homesick

#Cooking Excitement

#cooking in #China 😄 When you live in a #itsybitsy apartment with no counter space and definitely nooven, you have to do a little engineering for #baking #chocolatechipcookies 😂  So instead we use an old #target game board and a table oven. My life is so much fun!

Real #American Breakfast

A real #American breakfast!  🍴  In #China, donuts that taste like real donuts and CHEESE! are so hard to come by. We’ll pay a fortune just for a good old-fashioned meal once in a while. The Chinese usually eat soup, dumplings, fried bread, or salad for breakfast, which isn’t my cup of tea. But we’re staying at the Hilton for a couple days – in China, the nice hotels have both an American and a Chinese buffet – makes for quite the array!  🙂

Spicy Beef and Bamboo soup

#Spicy beef and bamboo sprout #soup with noodles.  Traditional Chinese dish here in Henan- made from #spices that numb your mouth

Durian – the #Stinky Fruit

Durian is the #stinky fruit of Asia. They call it the cheese fruit and smelly fruit. China loves it in pastries, cakes, and the like.

I’ve been told it’s worse than stinky tofu and I’d agree. Smells like cat pee and tastes like it smells. On the good side, the smell, heaviness, and pokey thorns make it an excellent weapon!

Ba Si

Ba Si is a delicious real Chinese dish made from fruits, baked potato, or sweet potato – battered and then covered in a sweet sugary- caramel like sauce that hardens into a candy-glaze.  My personal favorite!
