Heritage Art

There’s something very mesmerizing about the art in East Asian heritage sites – it’s just breathtaking.

Stone Cold

Beware – all who enter here. Come with good intentions or taste good with BBQ – either way. I love the Chinese #chimera statues ❤💕 Very majestic looking, but I also feel they would be friendly!

Gateway to Your Heritage

I ❤ #China!  Driving down the street, ran across this gorgeous old #gate.  So beautiful!

#TBT  (Ancient Style)

This is how we do homecoming in China! We go WAY back to the ancient alumni era 😜

Door to the Past

There were a few hundred of these lovely doors (each painted a different way on top). The middle class and nicer neighborhoods in town are still in the old kinda #Traditional style with a big front Door to the courtyard and small rooms for the Family off the center. Very Awesome!  And Beautiful artwork!

Gongyi Grotto

#Gongyi #Grottos – one if 4 Famous grottos in #China.  These are places where loyal #monks have carefully carved out thousand and millions of #buddhas and religious #statues into the walls of nearby #caves over CENTURIES!  Unfortunately, many of the ones in Henan were destroyed during the #CulturalRevolution or were defaced by the Western militaries During the wars with #China.  Still an amazing, awe-inspiring sight! Well worth the trip! Thanks to the Henan Provincial Tourism Bureau for sponsoring our trip today – it was lovely!

The Ringing Bell

The Great Bell

This is one of the bells at Japan’s Kamakura Shrines. It sits at the top of a mountain, and originally was run to denote important news/times. Now, they still ring them on News Years Eve if I understand correctly. They are beautiful works of art!

Further good news: I climbed a butt-load of stairs to see this bell, and I was delighted to find out that it also gave me a great view of the area. Plus, I know I lost some weight. 🙂
