#Chinese New Year’s is upon us! I know because there are fish with red pepers being hung!
#Fish around the new years represents “nián nián yǒu yú (年年有鱼)” which means ‘May you have Fish every year.’ Apparently it is pronounced the same as ‘May you have extra each year. Also the word for fish is similar to the Chinese word for ‘enough’
Apparently the red peppers repesent good luck and income (I’ve had different responses).
So the picture means – ‘May you have enough of everything you need in the New Year!

There were a few hundred of these lovely doors (each painted a different way on top). The middle class and nicer neighborhoods in town are still in the old kinda #Traditional style with a big front Door to the courtyard and small rooms for the Family off the center. Very Awesome! And Beautiful artwork!
Gongyi is home to the Kang Family Mansion – a Ming Dynasty mansion still preserved centuries later. Also called the KangBaiWan Mansion 河南巩义康百万庄园. It is #10 on China’s list of famous mansions! A truly beautiful place filled with all sorts of ancient buildings and gardens. At one time, he was apparently the wealthiest businessman in China. The family was famous be being good and virtuous, so much so that the emperor wrote them a poem just for them after 8 generations of wise and honorable leaders in a row. Wish I could have met them!
Lol, I went on a cooking spree today (see my post on DeceptivelyBlonde) and ended up decorating cookies. I wanted to practice my different lenses on the camera, and the sprinkles/icing color changes made the colors really stand out with different lenses. I especially like the red and black version!
Went to the Red Cross festival/event in Seoul Today. Awesome time wading in the water, taking photos with kids, and roaming about. 🙂
